The Aberdeen and Ap Lei Chau communities are built along the typhoon shelter. The waterfront promenades are good places for doing exercise including jogging and walking. They are also a place rich in history and culture. For example, Hung Shing Temple on Ap Lei Chau is a declared monument. Every year on Hung Shing (God of the Sea) Festival, large-scale celebration activities are held for several days that attract the public and learn about the fishermen culture and customs.
